Our Promise of Advocacy

Background on violence

~33,000,000

people affected by interpersonal violence (domestic violence, sexual assault, etc.) in the U.S. each year.

Background on reproductive healthcare

~7,000,000

women do not have access to reproductive care in the U.S.

Background on specialized healthcare

Only 17-20%

American hospitals have SANE nurses, who are specially trained to perform rape kits, on staff. Due to this shortage, survivors of violence are often turned away from hospitals without knowledge of where they can receive care.

Since our start in Seattle, Washington, ISAIV has strived to achieve 3 national goals:

  1. Increase accessibility of specialized healthcare for survivors of violence

  2. Bridge disparities in reproductive healthcare

  3. Defy all forms of violence

We draw strength from our communities, ranging from student coalitions to clinics, to create a support network that ensures access to compassionate care for every individual.

From fundraising for women’s shelters in 2020 to harnessing technology to re-imagine health advocacy today, we are constantly evolving to achieve our goals.
